12.25.09: Country Livin'

A nice rural cabin next to still cool water. Geese fly over head in the blue sky, while the leaves on the trees flicker in the breeze.

I have a feeling this is what Walt wanted us to see when we visited Disneyland.

And it is still there.

12.23.09 Christmas lights in Brea

  Every year we go to the same neighborhood in Brea to see the Christmas lights. This house is my personal favorite. It's a mix of both Christmas and a music theme and always has the Christmas songs blaring from the house.

Dew Drop

One of those East/West Coast differences I had to adjust to when I came out to SoCal was the custom of going to amusement parks during the Fall/Winter holiday season.

A very good Twitter friend - @sashakane - recommended my going to Knott's Berry Farm this week....

DisneyLand is life as we want it to be......Knott's Berry tends to be a bit grittier, and perhaps more a reflection of life as it actually is....

Neither is better nor worse....just different perspectives....

Crisp December days call for a hike up some of the local hills.  This one, covered in cactus, sits right in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Orange.  At the top of the hill, on a clear day, you can see Catalina Island, all the way up to Downtown Los Angeles.

12.18.09: Fog Fantasy

We don't get a lot of weather here in Orange County.

So when I awoke one morning to this extreme fog...I smiled. I was surprised the news didn't blow it out of proportion and start a segment called 'FogWatch 09'.
