The Catch in Anaheim has finally reopened, and it is rapidly becoming my preferred "third place". This is a view of The Grove from the bar at The Catch. Sure to be a fave pre/post-game site for Ducks fans, right Suz?

2.20.10 Santa Ana Car Wash....

Driving home one night from a camera store, I avoided the dreaded 55 freeway, and took surface streets home.  I ended up in a part of Santa Ana I don't think I've ever been thru before, and saw this really cool old style do-it-yourself car wash.  I think I'll take a deeper look thru that area when I have some free time!

There are many times driving through Orange County I am stunned by a simple scene that helps me imagine what a magical oasis this little part of the world was to the original settlers. When they planted their orange, lemon and olive groves and waited inside little pink houses to reap the benefits of being 'farming entrepreneurs'.

2.14.10 Central Park, Huntington Beach

My favorite tree in Central Park

If you were to see this tree in person,
you wouldn't think much of it---just a regular old tree. But
somehow on film it becomes rather magical.

This isn't a reflection, by the way.
It's a diptych taken with a half-frame camera--
two separate exposures. I turned the camera
upside for one of the half-frames.
(Sorry I have nothing Valentines-related!)
