03.31.10 Ruby's Carhop in Anaheim

An Orange County original, Ruby's Diner, opened it's first carhop in Anaheim on Monday. The new Ruby's in located in the renovated 5 Points Building in the historic district of Anaheim.

Reflecting

 

A walk by the ocean has always been a means of personal retreat & contemplation. Looks like I wasn't alone this weekend.

3.29.10 Line of Hedges in Tustin

I only see this style of tree in the older parts of Orange County (like this line of them in old town Tustin), but it's probably my favorite style. Anyone know what it's called?

Taken at the Fullterton Arboretum, I believe this was part of the desert garden. As creepy as this picture makes it seem, it's a lovely place to visit!

3.27.10 Downtown Santa Ana

Decided to take advantage of the first official day of Spring, and take a walk through Downtown Santa Ana.  I haven't really explored the area in years, and it seems they have modernized it quite a bit, while still keeping the neighborhood's flavor intact.

In the heart of Yorba Linda there is a free folk art gallery.

Well, it is more like welded 'creatures' that adorn the top of fence posts, but still I decided to stop and capture these creations to share.

Old Couple

I was walking along Newport Beach and saw these two beach cruisers sitting locked to a pole. They appeared to be an old couple embracing. A couple who have spent their lives at the beach, a little worn, but still very much in love.

03.18010 A Night at the Park

On a recent night, I had the urge to go out and do some night shooting with my tripod. A grouping of trees at a local park caught my attention the way the night time "light" was hitting them made them look as if they were migrating across the park.

3.17.10 Teemu Selanne, Saku Koivu and Jason Blake of the Anaheim Ducks

 

 I took the photo last night while I was working on a story on CHOC night at the Ducks game.  Teemu Selanne, Jason Blake and Saku Koivu gave two signed hockey sticks to a boy who is receiving treatment for cancer at CHOC hospital.

Watching how friggin' awesome they were to the boy and his family only deepened my already total devotion to the sport of hockey and of course, specifically, The Ducks. Given both Saku Koivu and Jason Blake are cancer survivors, the smiles and encouraging words were even more touching.
