I love President Lincoln. I always have. I once made a log cabin out of clay in 1st grade in honor of him. My dad thought it was an ashtray. What can I say...roofs are hard to make. I have always been inspired by Mr. Lincoln's perseverance. He failed at a million things before the whole presidency thing came along. Where as you know, he totally rocked it. I find that inspiring. So when animatronic Mr. Lincoln was brought back to life at Disneyland early this year I was one of the first to go visit him. And he was as awesome and inspiring as ever.
One of the things I always liked about Brea is that the city has an ordinance that any major new construction project must include a sculpture. As a result, you can make an outing of going to all the major buildings and housing developments in the city to see some fantastic art from sculptors around the globe!
This photo of the Balboa Auto Ferry was taken as I cuddled with my kids on the Balboa Fun Zone Ferris Wheel. A trip to Balboa Island, a ride on the ferry and then an afternoon at the Fun Zone is one of Orange County's best treats.
Here's a full photo slideshow of our day in Newport.
I don't think this shot is quite as nice as Suz's from the other day, but at the end of a week like this one, I'll take what I can get! This here is the Memphis Manhatten, taken inside of the Memphis restaurant in Santa Ana. A couple of these, and a bowl of their very tasty gumbo, and all is right in the world again!
One of my favorite cocktails is the lemon drop martini. I love to enjoy one at Orange Hill Restaurant just as the sun is going down. It reminds me how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place. Cheers!
